Peer Specialist ACT
The Peer Specialist on the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) will serve as a bridge between providers and adults with serious mental illness. This team provides 70% of their services in the community and in their client’s homes and with their families. The right candidate will have lived experience with behavioral health issues, the ability to work and communicate effectively, and an outgoing and engaging personality to connect with individuals. Your role will be to share your lived experience of mental illness and/or addiction and serve as a role model for peers; educate peers about self-help techniques and effective coping strategies, sometimes based on personal experience; help peers clarify goals for rehabilitation and recovery; and help peers develop natural support systems.
Education License/Certification Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed or willing to enroll in a Peer Specialist Training.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable vehicle.
